Finn Hall / Minnesota Pelimannit
Finnish music
Finn Hall, also known as "The
Minnesota Pelimannit," performs traditional Finnish and Finnish-American folk music for listening but especially for dancing. Instruments are accordions, violin, mandolin and bass. Vocals are sung in the Finnish Language.
We have performed locally, nationally and internationally (Canada and Finland) at various ethnic festivals and events. The diversity of our music is especially appealing to dancers, from the high energy driving rhythms of Finnish polkas, humppas and jenkkas (schottische), to the often minor keyed, emotive waltzes and tangos. We can include dance instruction for couples dances and audience participation in group folk dances. We can also include interesting narrative data on the music and lyrics. Upon request, we perform in national or regional costume for certain events.
Available: We are available most week nights and weekends for local performances and for longer periods for out-of-town events.
Space: Space for six musicians; large uncarpeted floor if for dance venue; can provide sound system if required for larger space
Fee: Negotiable
