Royal Scottish Country Dance Society
Twin Cities Branch Scottish Country dance
The Royal Scottish Country Dance Society–Twin Cities Branch (RSCDS-TC) performs traditional and new Scottish country dances for many types of audiences. The dances range from quick and sprightly to elegant and stately. The dances are fun to watch, and an audience-participation dance can be added to the end of a performance. RSCDS-TC also provides opportunities for lessons on how to do Scottish country dances, plus regular social dances that are more casual and fun. Lessons start at a basic level, and newcomers are quickly integrated into any dancing by pairing them with more experienced dancers. When performing, the dancers are costumed in traditional or ancient clothing (such as kilts, bodices, or skirts). Often we perform with live music (piper, Celtic band) but most often with recorded music. The costuming and music provide a lively, fun atmosphere with an air of Scotland.
